La Loge and La Petite Maison
We had a wonderful week in La Loge. Because of the sunny summer weather with pleasant temperatures, we spent a lot of time outside in the garden. We have used all the seats, depending on the need for sun/shade and depending on the activity (eating, reading, relaxing). The cottage is decorated in a romantic / rural atmosphere and has a large kitchen, where we cooked most evenings. The hamlet of Le Vert is very quiet; both during the day and in the evening it was generally wonderfully quiet. There are beautiful walks in the area (one can be reached on foot from La Loge), beautiful villages and towns to visit and winegrowers to visit. Jackie and Roger are very pleasant and friendly hosts, who enjoy helping you in all kinds of ways and respecting the privacy of their guests. When a baby owl stood in front of the bathroom window at their own house, we were allowed to come and see it immediately. A few days before we had told you that we loved hearing all kinds of owls in the evening and that we had seen two of them. So recommended to stay here!

A beautiful place to discover the surroundings of the Lot /Cahors. Jackie and Roger have created something beautiful, for which there is a lot of praise. All amenities are present, space, privacy and very welcoming. You can eat fantastic outdoors, table tennis, pétanque, walk from the house, good swimming lake a 15 minute drive away and wifi. Highly recommended!

We have a nice stay at this beautiful place. You have created a magical place. Thanks for your warm welcome.
Familie ter Horst – 29th August – 5th September, 2020
I can highly recommend this holiday home. It is in a quiet spot and is a great base from which to explore the beautiful surroundings. The owners have good tips about what to do. The house is very clean and complete including good wifi and satellite TV, with English and French channels. The courtyard offers sun and shade. Directly from home you can walk through forests and fields, in the evenings you can always see wildlife and special birds.

It was so lovely to arrive at La Garenne and see that it was just as beautiful as it looked on the Website. The weather for the first week and a half was perfect and we enjoyed huge, late breakfasts and balmy evening bbqs outside under the canopy. The children, aged 9, 12 and 14 years, loved swimming at the River (Castelfranc, Caix) and the total wipe-out inflatables on the Lake at Montcuq. We all loved the ‘Soiree Gourmand’ (Cambeyrac) and the amazing fireworks at Puy l’Eveque.
Esther and James Card – July 2017
Warm and welcoming hosts. Lovely accommodation. Especially liked eating outside at the covered area beside the restored bread oven. Lovely scenery. Would highly recommend.
Joan and Sam Riggs – June 2017
We have stayed at La Loge several times, with other family members in La Petite Maison, and both houses are fantastically well-equipped with beautiful furnishings throughout and they share a lovely sunny Courtyard. Jackie and Roger are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. The Lot is a wonderful area to explore – stunning scenery and beautiful buildings. Markets selling local produce and no shortage of vineyards! A bit further afield are larger towns and every one a real gem.
Family Orange – August 2016
After visiting different regions of France over the last 21 years we always come back to either La Loge or Le Pigeonnier, one for the area and two as nothing in our view comes up to the standard of either accommodation or cleanliness of these properties. Home from home we call them both, and Roger and Jackie are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative.
Bob and Amanda Williamson – July 2016
We returned in July for a second visit to La Loge with friends, who stayed in the adjoining ‘Petite Maison’. Accommodation is well-equipped and comfortable; the outdoor space offers plenty of sunny spots but also comfortable shade in the hotter weather. The surrounding area is beautiful with many attractive villages to visit both on the River Lot and beyond. Great local produce including, of course, wine. Roger and Jackie are welcoming hosts, sharing their local knowledge in an unobtrusive way.
Margaret and Douglas McCulloch – July 2016
Having stayed in many Gites over the last 30 or so years, we could count on one hand the ones that really all others should be judged by. ‘La Petite Maison’ has to be one of these. The small Hamlet that this gem sits in is an excellent all year round base to explore and visit France’s hidden treasure ‘the Lot Valley’. The accommodation works exceptionally well for two people, all the mod cons, amazing wood burner for chilly winter evenings, a superb shower with copious amounts of hot water. Perfect.
Chris and Sue Walker – November, 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Loge. It was so well-equipped for self-catering. It is in a fairly quiet spot but within easy reach by car of lots of small towns and villages. The owners have so much local knowledge and can advise on all sorts of interesting places to see. Overall great holiday!
Julia Calvert – August, 2015
We have already enjoyed a holiday staying in Le Pigeonnier. This year we stayed in La Loge and Le Vert as two independent but adjacent houses. The arrangement worked really well for two couples and both houses are very well-equipped and comfortable, with a covered area for eating al fresco. We would happily repeat the arrangement. Jackie and Roger are kind, thoughtful and welcoming hosts. There is no shortage of things to do and places to visit in this beautiful area of France.
Mrs Janis Gilbert – July, 2015
We stayed in La Loge in June, 2015, for 2 weeks. The house is in a beatiful hamlet and offers peace and tranquillity. The accommodation is very spacious, extremely comfortable and provides a ‘home from home’ feel, including UK TV! Large sunny courtyard, ideal for the many barbecues we had and also for sunbathing. The Lot Valley has so many places to visit, with our favourite local spot being Montcuq, which is only 15 minutes away – brilliant Market and lovely Restaurants. We will definitely return again.
Rita Ixer – June, 2015
A family of four with young children, we stayed at La Loge in the Autumn half-term holiday, during which we enjoyed superb weather, blue skies and quiet excursions without crowds. The cottage itself is in a private courtyard in a sleepy hamlet alongside the owner’s own house and their larger property for hire, Le Pigeonnier, from which the views over the valley are lovely. The British owners were warm and welcoming and on hand to answer any questions. The cottage interior was warm and comfortable.

Le Pigeonnier
Roger and Jackie, the most hospitable people, comfortable house, beautiful view, quiet. We enjoyed this lovely spot for two weeks. Thank you Jackie and Roger very much.
Willemien en Onno – 2nd – 16th October, 2021
Beautifully converted farmhouse in the characteristic local style. Perfect wide view over the vineyards and surroundings. Although you look literally miles away over the vineyards, you still have absolute peace and privacy. The Gite is neat, clean and very comfortable and fully equipped. In the same area we have been to Gites which were much more expensive and yet this was the best so far. The owners have already provided us with a lot of information about restaurants, markets and places of interest by e-mail before arrival. Definitely recommended.

Had a wonderful stay in the idyllic Le Pigeonnier; a beautiful house with every comfort, furnished with taste and great attention to detail. Enjoyed the fantastic view during breakfast and dinner in the garden, the silence and tranquility. Beautiful villages and old town Cahors nearby. We felt very welcome by friendly and hospitable (English) owners, who gave us information and nice tips about the area. A top holiday and very nice house. Thanks again Jackie and Roger!

Superb!
We came back home with the regret of having left this cottage and the region of Cahors. We very much appreciated the accommodation which was very well equipped and had a splendid view and a nice and beautifully landscaped garden. The owners are welcoming and left a welcome gift which we enjoyed… even absent, they gave us visiting tips. If you like the countryside and tranquillity this is a rental at the Top.
Christine Lemeiter, France – 12th – 26th June, 2021
Excellent stay at the Pigeonnier.
Le Pigeonnier is a comfortable and functional cottage with amenities as described. The owners are charming and discreet. We appreciated the many amenities, the private garden and the view over the countryside. The surroundings are beautiful. Excellent place for a stay in peace and in nature.
Bruno, France – September, 2020
The view from the Le Pigeonnier over the valley has to be seen to be believed – it’s rural France at its finest. The surrounding hilltop villages, vineyards, and local markets make for a fantastic holiday and it is difficult to find a better property in which to stay. So fully equipped and with such friendly, but unobtrusive hosts. We’ve been twice, and we will be back.
Malcolm and Elaine Burden – August, 2016
Better late than never … my friends, family and I have stayed in Le Pigeonnier on three or four occasions now – always gorgeous and well-equipped – simply a beautiful location and a great base for exploring the surrounding areas of this unique part of France. Hosts Jackie and Roger are always gracious and helpful as well as knowledgable if you get stuck for advice or tourist info. Oh and the breakfast view over the valley tells me I am on holiday. We will be back!
Alyson, Kathryn and Co – July, 2016
Our third stay in Le Pigeonnier. We love the Lot region and this is the ideal location to experience it. A lovingly renovated and well-maintained property with superb views across a rural valley and plenty of lazing space in the garden to enjoy them. There are numerous small villages within easy driving distance for restaurants, markets and cultural events over the Summer. Jackie and Roger are the perfect hosts – helpful, friendly but non-intrusive. We highly recommend it!!
Simon Wood – June, 2016
This beautiful house is comfortable, tastefully furnished and practical. The owners are friendly, helpful and not intrusive. The view from the bedroom window to the valley below is wonderful and one is surrounded by the sights and sounds of a vast array of wildlife. The grounds are beautifully kept and colourful – full of wonderful scents and colours. It is peaceful but never boring and there is always something going on in the surrounding villages, each of which has an individual character. Heaven!
Angela Odell – May, 2016
This is the second time we have stayed at the property and we hope to go back again soon. Le Pigeonnier is very well-equipped, a real home from home. If you like a property in a quiet rural location, this is the place for you! The owners are lovely and helpful. There is lots to do in the area from walking, cycling and sightseeing. I would recommend this property for couples or families alike. We have two boys – a 10 year old and 15 year old, and they both loved it!
Steve and Sheralyn Hammond – May, 2016
Rural location, fantastic views, very comfortable and well-equipped and maintained to a high standard. Spacious. Local information provided on visits, restaurants, etc. Owners welcoming and helpful. Small markets nearby and a lake for swimming. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Anita and David Hodges – August, 2015
OK it’s a long way, but boy is it worth it. First morning spotted a wild deer at the edge of the wood. I was hooked. Lovely character, well equipped property. Made me want to stay put but then I would have missed the medieval villages, the markets, shopping, wines and delicious food. Be sure to find out if one of the hilltop villages is having a festival. What a hoot and you are made to feel welcome. Loved every minute at Le Pigeonnier.
Richard Tyner – July, 2015
We spent three weeks at this beautiful house. It is situated in a tranquil hamlet enjoying stunning views over the adjacent valley. Le Pigeonnier was sympathetically renovated in the late 90s, retaining its original character. It is kept in immaculate condition and has been meticulously enhanced over the years. A short drive away are markets, an excellent boulangerie and a swimming lake. The cottage is surrounded by gardens, meadows, woodland and birdsong. Highly, highly recommended.
Rod and Gil Wilson – August, 2015
Had a fantastic family holiday – (two adults, three children (aged 15, 13, 11). Le Pigeonnier was like home-from-home with everything catered for. From the welcome bottle of wine to the table-tennis and electronic darts (!) everything was provided. Hosts Roger and Jackie were on hand next door and the garden offered privacy to relax, read and enjoy the views across the valley. Only holiday that our daughters have left a thank-you note, with a couple of sweets, saying they hope to be back …
